Last Night l had my first swim meet ever. l have been on the swim team for about 4 months now, swimming anywhere from 3-5 days a week. The Meet was an Intra-Squad. My Coach Signed Me Up for the 500m ( 20 Laps ) and l panacked, not even doing that much freestyle laps in warm-ups. As l finished the 20th laps l took a glance at the time before it went blank and it was 9:01. Is That A horrible time? Please be honsest considering im not that exprienced yet and need some real opnions. :) thanks a bunch

if it was a 500, it'd be yards. so swimming the 500yds, it wasnt a greaat time. the standards where l live r that u have a good time when ur at about 6:30 or so. if u werent prepared then thats expected to not do a good time, especially since ur new to swimming. depending on how old u r & what age group ur in, the standards all vary. my first time in the 500 was a 7:10, but l was prepared for what l was swimming. the 500 is a hard race for some especially if ur not a long distance swimmer, but over time u will improve. & since its such a long race, its easy to drop time. good luck in ur swimming, message me if u have any questions :)

it is not horrible. but not phenomenal either.
in my experience, good swimmers can do the 500m easily in under 8 min.

If you want the honest answer, its not a good time at all, but its ok cause you are inexperienced.
To be good at swimming, it takes alot of time and effort.
A good time for the 500 ranges from anything under six minutes.

Um, well it is not very good.buttt it does depends on your age. You might not be a distance swimmer, ask your coach to sign you up for some sprinting events, like the 50 or 100. Distance is especially hard for a swimmer who is just starting.
