what should I do/eat to increase my stamina

You should eat a healthy diet, and make sure you build up on carbs before you run, they give you energy to make it through the run, pasta is an excellent source of that. Make sure you keep hydrated and drink lots of water, and what helps me is take something to help keep your mind off of being tired like maybe an ipod or mp3 to listen to, it really helps.

Exercise for longer periods at a reduced level. In other words, take your maximum level and cut it in half, then increase the length of time at that level. Gradually increase the activity level as your stamina improves.

stretch before swimming,
have a drink at the side of the pool swim a length and back have a sip and carry on.
eat lots of fruit
drink at least 8 cups of water a day (great for your skin too!

Power bars!!!And bananas help too, and a big plate of pasta for dinner the night before

Start off with swimming widths without breathing. And then go on to lengths. Another way may be trading water.
