Heyy,

I am 14 year old grl who is a very competitive swimmer. But sometimes l find it really hard to convince myself to go to practice. l mean l have to lead the lane and practices are soo damn hard like seriously, when l am done swimming l am ready to collapse. l pretended to be sick for a whole week just so l would skip swimming. l feel like an idiot for doing that, but l am so annoyed by it. l know swimming is healthy and stuff but It is just sooo hardd. Any ways to convince me to go to swimming tomorrow would be great, thanksssss. xoxo lydiaa.

If u convince yourself to swim regularly, u will get used to it & wont mind anymore. l swim 4 times a week, Wednesday through Saturday, l hate going swimming on Wednesdays, but after that, l feel great & actually want to swim. It is sort of like waking up & having to go to school on Mondays. Also, l do not go home right before swimming class because l know l wont be able to resist taking a nap & skipping practice, but if l go to the pool right away, l do not feel like going back home. Staying in shape is what motivates me to keep swimming.

l was the same. l think the easiest way is to just go regualrly because then you will get in better shape and wont mind practicing everyday. once ur in better shape, practices will get easier

its gets way easier if you go to practice everyday. If you skip for a week it will get even harder. just go to practice.

just go everyday, u will get used to it. l have to swim 6 times a week, & on mondays, wednesday, sundays & sometimes saturdays l have to practice for 2:30 hours. l hated it at first, but now i'm used to it. If u hate swimming so much, l honestly think maybe u could try a different sport, just for now. like tennis. :) swimming is super competitive, l know this is gonna sound mean, but its not for people who cant put their heart & soul into it. DONT BE A LOSER WHO QUITS!!!

Swimming is a tough sport. It is constantly pushing ur body to limits u really would never want to.

You have to really sit down, either with yourself or ur coach, & look at why u do not enjoy practice. l would really go to practice tomorrow & pull ur coach aside. When l was fourteen l was at a real breaking point where l thought, why am l doing this? l talked to my coach for a good hour & regained my motivation.

And. maybe u just should not swim. It is definitely an extreme solution, but if you're truly suffering & HATE it, then it is not worth it. It is a tough sport to love.

if you go for a period of time ull get used to it ;)

like l used to die doing the warm-up when l was a freshmen..

and l put up with it through season and now im 2nd in the fast lane as a sophomore :)
