l go to this swim team thing n I am always the slowest or next to slowest person in my lane. l NEED TO IMPROVE ON MY SPEED! l only have practice 3 times a week and l usually go once only or when its vacation 2 or 3 times. Can anybody give me some tips or advice on things n dont say go to practice more because l rlly cant

You're asking the wrong person. You need to ask ur coach. Swimming is very dependent on ur technique. Your coach knows ur stroke & is in the best position to know what ur weaknesses are. Ask them for instruction! Swimming more wo not help if ur stroke technique is poor -- it is merely reinforcing bad habits.

Add: No, REALLY. l think you're looking past the obvious. The words u chose to say ur technique is ok indicates that u do not appreciate how important it is. Speed comes from power properly applied. l have not swum a lap in months, yet l bet l can swim rings around you, because my technique is excellent. (And l am an old lady!) You asked for advice & u got it -- why do u dismiss it?

You probably need to improve your technique first. Talk to your coach about it. Technique first then speed comes.

Go to practice! You can not skip out on practice & expect to swim fast. You have to be there whenever you have practice & commit to training hard & doing your best.

Do not worry about anything out of the pool if you do not even go to practice all the time!

l know you said not to tell you to go to practice more but that is the main thing that will help you go faster, lifting and running will help as well but nothing works as well as just getting in the water and swimming.

l am a swimmer & l learned that it really takes time to build up some speed. l would start by just pushing yourself to look at a clock & time yourself & say okay if l can beat this time, l get a _________ or l can do one lap easier to follow. l really think that lifting weights wo not help but running can help ur breathing (different regulations) The only reason lifting can do is strengthen ur muscles. Try NOT breathing after walls for as many strokes as possible & work hard. Good luck! :-)

The only way to get faster is to swim a lot.

The fastest swimmers generally swim the most. So much of swimming is dependent on the feel of the water that it is virtually impossible to perfect your stroke without exposure. When you can not be in the water, work on the weights and do aerobic exercises like running, biking, etc.

Get the Michael Phelps training video. l think he starts with a brisk cardio work-out, and then he takes a bong rip and shreds the water. It should all be on the video.
